Dana
Dana,
or generosity, is intrinsic to the 2,500 year old tradition of Buddhism.
Going back
to the days of the Buddha, the teachings were considered priceless and
thus offered freely.
In the spirit of Dana, Insight PV is committed to making the Buddha’s
teachings available to everyone regardless of financial circumstances.
The teachers and community dharma leaders at our center are not paid
for leading classes and retreats. Your support of the teachers enables
them to devote more of their lives to teaching.
All staffers at the center are also volunteers. Dana helps us pay rent,
phone, insurance and administrative expenses, and enables us to host
special events, publicize our offerings and reach out to special groups.
We ask for a suggested donation for the center, and give participants
the opportunity after each class/retreat to donate in support of the
teacher's livelihood.

you donate online, please select the Designated Donation
box to indicate if your donation
is for a specific teacher (not tax-deductible) or for the center as
a whole (tax-deductible).
Practicing
dana is a central part of the teachings. The Buddha said there are many
ways to train
the mind for liberation: the easy way, the middle way, the difficult
way and the supreme way. He said the practice of dana was the easy way.
As a physical manifestation of the central teachings
of non-clinging, practicing generosity strengthens our practice and
deepens our wisdom.
Generosity
is a very beautiful quality; an opening of the heart into sharing. It
provides an atmo-
sphere of non-separateness; an expression of unity. It is the selfless
manifestation of non-greed
and non-attachment. It is the practice of all religions and is the foundation
of all spiritual growth. Lastly, practicing generosity creates the conditions
for happiness as we experience joy in the planning to give, in the act
of giving, and in remembering our acts of generosity.
May the merit of your generosity spread
far.
